Chernobyl

Chernobyl is a city in northern Ukraine that was the site of the worst nuclear disaster in history. On April 26, 1986, a catastrophic failure occurred at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, resulting in a nuclear meltdown and the release of a large amount of radioactive material into the environment. The disaster caused widespread contamination and had serious health and environmental impacts, including an increase in cancer rates and the evacuation of over 100,000 people from the surrounding area.

The Chernobyl disaster had significant political and economic consequences, and it raised concerns about the safety of nuclear power around the world. The Chernobyl exclusion zone, a 30-kilometer radius around the power plant, remains uninhabitable to this day.
